What are the Wellpride USEA AEC's?
Quite simply, the Wellpride USEA American Eventing Championships are the
national championships for the sport of eventing. Riders from all levels, from
Beginner Novice all the way through Advanced, come together to test their mettle
against the best in the country, vying for exciting prizes, a slew of cash, and
the chance to be named the best in the nation at their respective levels. It's
not just for professionals either - there are divisions for juniors, amateurs,
and professionals. Something for everyone!
In 2007, we had a record-setting year, drawing in 563 entries from 42
different states. This was the fourth year of the U.S. Eventing National
Championships and it's debut at Lamplight Equestrian Center was obviously a huge
hit with eventers. We're expecting an even bigger turn-out this year!
Can Anyone Compete?
Sure, as long as you're qualified! Not sure if you're qualified? Be sure to
check out the list of Qualified Riders and list of Qualified Horses. Have a question about qualifications? Read
over the complete Qualification
List and if you still have questions, give us a call here at the office at
703-779-0440. Be sure to read carefully - some new qualifications are in place
this year.
Media Coverage
Last year, we had tons of daily photo galleries from each division, audio
interviews with top riders, video coverage from all three phases, and of course,
daily press releases on our website. All of those exciting media opportunities
will be back this year, but with much more video interviews with the winners
(think CNN or Sportscenter...only better!).
Parties & SmartPak Canine Dog Show
It wouldn't be the AEC if we didn't have parties and other fun festivities!
This year you can expect two great parties - since there's so many great
restaurants in the St. Charles area, we figured you'd like to go "out on the
town" a few nights on your own! Thursday evening will be the Welcome Party
hosted by the Lamplight Equestrian Center, where you can mingle with friends
over wine and cheese (or Coke & crackers). Saturday night will be the big
party - we'll start things off with a cocktail hour and have the SmartPak Canine
Dog Show for the evening's entertainment. After we've crowned the High Jump
Champion, Best Trick, and all the other fun divisions, it's on to the party!
We'll have the DJ back again this year, so be sure to stick around for dancing!
New Divisions
Two new divisions have been added—the Beginner Novice level
(previously run as one division) has been split into three divisions: Amateur,
Junior, and Horse. Broadstone Equine Insurance Agency is generously sponsoring
these divisions.
Live Scoring
The live scoring will be back on the USEA site again this
year - so as soon as the judges know the scores, you'll know the scores! This
way even if you can't attend the AEC's, you can still keep up with your friends
and family and find out how they're ranked in the competition.
Prizes!
Last, but certainly not least, is the huge list of prizes
that will be up for grabs once again this year. Here's just a taste of what's to
come: seven-dose certificates for Adequan, Amerigo saddles, Auburn Lab products
(makers of APF), $15,000 in Bit of Britain gift certificates, Charles Owens
helmets, leather halters from Equestrian Classics, prizes from Flair nasal
strips, Fleeceworks saddle pads, Mackinnon Ice Horse products, Maui Jim
sunglasses, Nutrena feed, gift certificates from Ovation/English Riding Supply,
Tipperary vests, mesh coolers and gift certificates from Saratoga Horseworks,
SSG gloves, and $5,000 in products from UlcerGard/Merial. For more info on the American Eventing Championships (AEC) go to www.useventing.com/competitions.php?section=aec |
